Intense color at Daum

Lorraine Dining Table

© Bertrand Jamot/Lorraine Tourism — Nothing like a note of color signed Daum to brighten up his table.

The master glassmaker, created in 1870, brings up to date the technique of crystal paste, a practice dating back to 5,000 BC and which gives the achievements a brilliant material and an intense color. Combined with lost-wax casting, the mastery of crystal paste allows the reproduction of original pieces created by artists with whom the house has collaborated since the 1940s. To discover these collections, go to the Nancy shop, but also to the factory store located nearby, or to the museum of the School of Nancy.

Founded in the eighteenth century, the factories of Lunéville – Saint-Clément, specialized in earthenware, have distinguished themselves through the ages, transmitting their secular know-how. Of particular note is the creation of 1,500 pots commissioned by Marie-Antoinette’s architect for the Petit Trianon garden in Versailles. Today, the royal factories, gathered under the name Terre d’Est, offer collections of traditional tableware in earthenware worked but also decorated by hand, like the collections “Réverbère” with vintage accents or “Paris … ” whose line is more modern.

Lorraine Dining Table

The origins of this house date back to the sixteenth century. In 1767, the Pays de Bitche factory was named “Verrerie Royale”, before specializing in crystal in 1829. Since then, the Saint-Louis crystal factory has given the same care to the creation of its pieces: mouth-blown crystal, cut, engraved and decorated by hand. To immerse yourself in the know-how of the Maison Saint-Louis, head to the La Grande Place museum, located in the heart of the manufacture and where some 2,000 exceptional pieces are exhibited. It is also possible to enjoy a guided tour of the workshops and the village of Saint-Louis-lès-Bitche.
